Enjoying Mountain Biking With Specialized Mountain Bikes Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

There are many types of mountain biking and downhill riding is just one of them.

Mountain biking has changed dramatically since it was first developed. These days there are various forms of the sport which you can take part in and each can be extremely challenging for your body.

Generally today if you want to take part in any type of mountain biking then you will need special skills. This is true with all forms of biking as even with ordinary biking you will still need to be perfectly fit and healthy and you will need to know what to do in the event of an emergency. However, despite it being a challenging activity, more and more people are starting to enjoy the sport and all that it has to offer.

The Most Popular Type of Mountain Biking

Whilst all forms of mountain biking are proving to be popular, downhill mountain biking does tend to have that little bit of an edge in comparison to other types. Many people compare it to downhill skiing though obviously you will be taking part on a bike and not on skis! Also with downhill mountain biking you spend a lot of your time in the air as you take part in various jumps and tricks. It can be extremely exciting and that is why so many people do choose to take part in the sport.

The thing that you need to remember about downhill mountain biking is that it can be potentially dangerous. For that reason it should never be confused with ordinary biking as if it is, beginners may end up seriously hurt. Downhill biking is also not the same thing as cross country mountain biking which it is also commonly mistaken for. Basically downhill mountain biking requires a bike with special front and rear suspension. This is because it needs to be able to handle a lot of pressure due to the varying terrains you will be riding over. The bikes themselves tend to be heavier too as they are built with stringer frames. So there is a difference between the bikes used for downhill biking and you will need to take that into account. You must consider superior protective gear like Rudy Project helmets and bicycle helmets for your safety.

Generally you do not pedal as often with downhill mountain biking as coming downhill tends to give you a lot of gravity anyway. It will require a lot of concentration though as going downhill is the most dangerous part and when you are travelling at high speeds anything could happen.

Overall downhill mountain biking is one type of specialized mountain biking which many people love. It is potentially dangerous and it does take up a lot of physical strength too. So if you are planning on taking up the sport then always ensure that you are fit enough.

What Makes Specialized Mountain Bikes So Special? Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Honestly, even if you’re new to biking – how do you think you can go wrong with a name like “Specialized”? Mountain bikes under this label have been patronized by discriminating cycling enthusiasts – and not just because the name is catchy, but because this brand has a performance history that’s no less than good and solid.

Specialized mountain bikes of the Rockhopper line, for example, have remained at the top of consumer rankings for a long time, contending with equally popular classics like the Trek 4500 and the Gary Fisher Marin. These “hardtail” bikes are lightweight and perfect for use by cyclists with different body types, which makes it a favorite for most kinds of rugged trails.

The average weight of a Specialized bike is 30 pounds. The aluminum frame helps greatly in reducing weight and increasing speed. And because aluminum is tried and tested for its durability, it is also the material of choice by Specialized manufacturers. You can test the worth of a bike of this name by putting it through a trail bike test; see how well it performs and how easily it is to transport during normally arduous uphill climbs.

Mike Sinyard, creator of Specialized Bicycle Components, founded his company in 1974, with the intent to “give everyone the best ride of their life.” Since then the professional mountain bikes turned out by the company have made the top picks, and in the past years the company’s success in developng its mountain bike lines was driven by the presence of its independent suspension FSR frame.

Specialized is also known for producing quality “budget” bikes – and by this, we mean trail bicycles that are slightly cheaper than industry standard, for their caliber. They’re still more expensive than you could expect a regular bike to be – for example, a “cheap” competition-grade Specialized model could still cost a little over $1000. Before you balk at this price, you must remember that Specialized bikes are known to compete with big-name brands like Marin, Trek and Giant, some of which definitely sell their “budget” models at much higher costs! But you could look forward to top of the line service and performance from Specialized mountain bikes. You could save a little more if you buy previous years’ models, which almost invariably drop in prices as new and shinier models enter the market. If you’re able to take advantage of special offers, you can grab a special deal on a firsthand full suspension, cross-country trail bike.

Specialized Mountain Bikes With Style with Solidity Friday, October 9th, 2009

The specialized mountain bikes are the ones, which are specially customized to meet the requirements of the rider. The bikes have a fundamental version, with specially customized parts and accessories. These specialized parts turn the bike even more powerful. The specialization brings more comfort to the riders, resulting in their ultimate satisfaction.

You can purchase a specialized mountain bike from a dealer or can customize it yourself by assimilating different parts. This would be possible if you are an experienced biker and is acquainted with the intricacies. However, if you are a beginner, then a basic mountain bike model without customization would be sufficient. The more the knowledge grows, the more you would be confident in using different parts all by yourself.

A specialized mountain bike is manufactured with added and better parts; the look gets improved and even more fascinating. In order to customize your own bike, you can add new paddles, brakes, gears and handlebars. You can even change the frame, suspension system or tires. The color of the bikes may also be changed, to suit your taste. However, if you are more interested in purchasing the mountain bike, then you must have the idea what parts are needed to make your ride safe and enjoyable. There is no limit to the amount you may pay for customizing your bike. However, you should be quite particular about your budget, and must keep your expenditure under control.

Processes for customization

1.Customization can be done by getting new handlebars that better suit your mountain bikes.

2.Do not run after spending too much money on buying new parts. Use a bit of intelligence in customizing your bike, and make it powerful and worthy.

3.The new parts that you will purchase, should match the bike you have.

4.You should contact the manufacturer to be in the safe side, and must check the return and exchange policies of the online and offline exchanges.

5.There is huge number of models available in the market. However, you must discreetly choose the model you exactly want.

The way to specialize bikes

There are many processes to specialize bikes. The specialization would depend on your choice of bikes, and the amount you are willing to pay. Sometimes, only the new frames cause a makeover to the bikes. A large majority want specialized, ultra smooth suspension seat posts or fully adjustable handlebars. There are specialized tires, suiting different terrains.

Disadvantages of specialization

There are some disadvantages of specialization as well. Specialization does not always serve you in the way you should. You would not know, whether you are the only person with the specialized bike or not. Only a branded manufacturer can give you the guarantee.

Thus, a specialized mountain bike can bring you full satisfaction, if it is chosen rightly.
