Golf Apparel – It’s All About Good Golf Etiquette
Friday, February 5th, 2010
When playing golf, there are many rules. It isn’t juat a matter of turning up to a golf course, playing a round of golf and then going home. You have to show good golf etiquette to be able to fit in with your surroundings and also to be allowed to play at the golf club.
One of the many rules of etiquette on the links is for each golfer to wear the proper golf apparel. This is one of the most important rules on the golf course. Following a strict dress code on the golf course, is something that most golf clubs and courses, even the public ones, require the golfers to do. Probably the most popular rule is the one of requesting that the golfers wear a collared shirt, although many courses also require long pants to be worn – not jeans of course – and proper golf shoes.
The primary rule of etiquette when actually hitting the links, is to show up on schedule for your tee time. It is important to be considerate of others and for you to not arrive a few minutes before tee off, still wanting to have a few practice swings on the driving range. Give yourself plenty of time, along with practice time, you will also need to find somewhere to park your car, purchase your golf balls, get changed into the correct golf apparel and collect your cart.
Cell-phones are also a big no no. Cell-phones are not part of the correct golf apparel and this should be considered before setting off on the course. They should either be left behind in your car or locker or if absolutely neccessary and needed for emergencies, should be kept in your bag, turned off.
Be sure that, when you are out on the golf course, you have a good understanding of the rules by which the other golfers want to play. Know, in advance, whether they honor the preceding holes score, for insance, by letting the golfer with the best score tee off on the next hole, or do they let whoever is ready to tee off, go first? It is possible, if you aren’t careful, ot offend strangers, if you have decided to join their group when you play, by not playing to their rules.
Along with the plaid pants, sweater vests, flat caps and other stereotypical golf apparel, golfers are also best known for their obsession with silence on the golf course. This does, however, make sense when you are concentrating into putting everything into your swing to hit a tiny ball with a long nearrow stick. Silence is a must!
So, even if you are just playing a round of golf with your friends, make sure to observe the basic rule of keeping quiet during shots and not to stand in the shooters direct line of vision.
Follow the rules, treat others on the course as you would like to be treated and have a great enjoyable game.

How To Be The Best Golf Player With Good Golf Fitness
Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010
Golf, like all other games, requires a well-rounded approach to achieving success at the level you desire. Being a good golf player goes far beyond having an ideal score of below 80. Although skill plays a major part, good golf fitness is the key to winning golf games with ease.
To be a good golf player, you have to get down past the three areas of:
– Golf Fitness,
– Golf Practice,
– Etiquette.
1. Golf Fitness
Keeping your body and mind in excellent shape is a key element to becoming a good, if not great, golf player. Looking after your body and making sure it is in shape not only gets you to perform better on the course, it also ensures you that you can enjoy golf even well into your years.
Achieve the desired golf fitness body by eating right and exercising regularly. Maintain cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone that suits the game of golf. Some indicators of physical fitness are your blood pressure and your BMI (body mass index). Consult with your doctor on what levels are right for your age and body type.
On the other hand, mental fitness is also just as important. Find ways to relieve yourself of stress. Develop a regular meditation time alone or with family/friends. Keep your mind sharp by exercising it with reading or with puzzles like crosswords.
2. Golf Practice
All professional golfers have a regular and consistent practice routine. Many amateur golf players find themselves wanting to play more and practice less when it is the opposite that gets better results as far as scores go. By practicing more, you develop techniques and muscle memory that will carry you well into your game.
An ideal play to practice ratio is 1:2, that is, for every hour of golf you play, you should do 2 hours of practice. This may not be done all in the same day. It is advised to alternate practice and play days so as not to work out too much.
Never stop learning more about the game. Knowing how to play does not mean you cannot learn more and be better. Remember that there is always something new you can learn so either enroll in a class or take up a lesson or two with a more advanced player. This can be done on an annual basis. Constantly wanting to improve your golf skills shows your dedication to becoming a better player than you were the year before.
3. Etiquette
Being a great player on the course and on the practice field is nothing if you are not a good person to play with. Rudeness is never condoned in sports and certainly not in golf. Golf is a gentleman’s game and rules pertaining to respecting others are of utmost importance.

Golfing Tips for Beginners
Friday, January 29th, 2010
Golf can start an afternoon hobby and turn into a real passion as you get more involved with it. Learning how to play golf is not difficult and going through all the initial steps is actually fun and rewarding. Here are a few golfing tips that will help you start of on the right foot and turn into a real golfer:
Don’t go for the shiniest, most expensive set of golf clubs. As a beginner you will miss a lot of the subtleties of professional golf equipment, so it’s not worth spending thousands on the latest technology and golf club models. Start with a cheaper set of clubs, maybe even a used one.
A good golf set would have a putter, two woods and five irons. The irons are usually the odd numbers, such as 3, 5, 7 and 9 plus a wedge. If you want to experience different club types without actually purchasing them you can always rent a set from the golf course. As in most cases, beginners play their first golf rounds with a more experienced friend so you could always borrow some clubs from them.
Golf coaches are a better alternative than friends when it comes to teaching you how to properly play golf. However, if you are just starting golf for the fun of the game, a friend might be a good tutor initially. The only problem with friends teaching you how to golf is that they do not have the necessary skills to explain all the complexities of the movements, swings and strategies. A golf coach is experienced in giving you complicated terms in plain English.
You can sign up for golf lessons at most golf courses, and this is a good investment if you have a competitive nature and a few friends that doubt your golfing skills. While costs can vary from one extreme to the other per hour, you can also get a group booking that will save you some money.
Learning Golf from an instructor would be ideal because he is the one who will not only teach you ABCs of the game but will take you to the next levels one by one.
1.The Instructor should be able to chalk out a personal plan and then he should ensure that the plan works as planned and desired.
2.Swing, which is natural and is difficult to change. Due emphasis must be given to swing. It is for the instructor to improve your swing. The instructor should be knowledgeable enough to explain the fundamentals leading to swing.
3.The instructor must ensure that your game improves everyday. There is a saying that You’ll get worse before you get better! but you and your instructor should try to prove it wrong.
4.The instructor must behave like a friend; he should encourage you for a good shot and should correct it if there is something wrong or not-so-good shot.
5.The instructor must have the habit of less talking and more teaching. He should always focus on the training, similarly as a learner one should also follow it but aim at learning only.
6.The instructor is like a life partner as far as the Golf is concerned, he is always there to help, guide and support you.
That is why Learning Golf is not as easy as any other sport. One has to put all necessary efforts to learn and become a good player. Once you have the basic notions about golf it is time to make the most out of this game. Ambition and determination are great when developing your golf skills, but do not let these reduce the enjoyment levels of the game.

Know The Difference Between The Good And Bad Golf Tips
Monday, January 11th, 2010
There are good golf tips and bad golf tips. The question is, “how do you decide which golf tips to listen to?”
This question has been brought home to me recently because a good friend took up golf about two years ago. He has really caught the bug and plays several times a week. He also has lessons and practices frequently. Whenever we play together he is constantly asking for tips and advice about his swing.
It is my belief that you should only give a player a golf tip if you are sure that it will fit in with the rest of his swing. I have seen far too many players lose their swings when trying to adopt a golf tip which simply does not fit in with everything else that goes on when they swing the club.
OK, I know, there are certain golf tips which are universally sound, like, “keep your head still.” But equally there are plenty of other golf tips that can be ruinous even when given with the best of intentions.
In particular I recall a good player with whom I’d played many rounds who always drew the ball right to left, usually with good control. One day when his draw was a bit exaggerated, his partner suggested this perfectly sound golf tip: “You know, if you were to keep your right elbow well tucked in on the downswing you would lose that nasty hook.”
The suggestion was well meant. However, for a player who had a well grooved habit of swinging slightly over the top of the ball, as Arnold Palmer was wont to do, it proved to be one golf tip too much. He became so conscious of his right elbow that it threw the whole of the rest of his swing out of shape and it took him months to get it back again.
The point is that the golf tip didn’t fit in with the rest of his swing.
This is a mistake that many golfers make. They listen to all the golf tips out there and try to adopt them all in their desperate search for a good swing. It is my belief that your aim should be to groove a golf swing that will give you streams of straight and long golf shots by modelling your swing on one set of advice. Then you should develop a mind movie of that swing so that you can reproduce it whenever you play a shot.
Think how long some of the most famous partnerships between players and their swing coaches have lasted. Think of Jack Nicklaus and Jack Grout, Tiger Woods and Butch Harmon, Nick Faldo and David Leadbetter to name but a few. All these great players relied on one coach’s vision of their swing to keep their mind movie in shape. They did not go asking for golf tips from other players.

With the amount of golf instruction available out in the world today, golfers can be forgiven for becoming a little bit overwhelmed when it comes to seeking help with their golf game. At the for front of golf teaching is undoubtedly golf instruction DVD’s. Their popularity is due to the significant advantage they provide in showing golfers face to face exactly what they should or should not be doing. Golf instruction DVD’s that can help golfers on any skill level achieve the most out of their game are an invaluable learning device. .
Most DVD’s teach golfers unique swing theories that promise to lower your handicap and are simple to apply. While not all DVD’s back up the hype, there are many that provide great golf swing training aids that can take your game to next level. Golf teaching covers everything in the golf game from driving the ball, iron shots, bunkers play, chipping and putting.

The DVD should analyse every part of the swing including the takeaway, backswing, downswing and follow through.

Golf Apparel — The Start Of Good Golf Etiquette
Friday, December 25th, 2009
Many of us recall old movie images of golfers in plaid pants, sweater vests, billed caps, and other stereotypical apparel of golfing lore. While clothing on golf courses has changed over the years, proper golf apparel is still expected. And the greater the prestige of the golf club, the greater the expectation you will abide by their dress code.
Most clubs and courses, even the public ones, require that golfers follow a dress code. The most common rule is the collared shirt. Many courses require long pants, not jeans, and golf shoes.
When it comes to actually starting your game, the primary rule of etiquette is to show up on schedule for your tee time. That means you will have already done everything else in preparation for the start of the golf game. You’ll need time to park your car, warm up, practice, buy balls, change, and pick up a cart. Being early is a matter of consideration for others.
Leave Cell Phones In The Real World
The exclusion of cell phones from golf apparel is another common courtesy on the links. Cell phones should be left in your car or locker. If you do need to bring 1 onto the course for emergencies, keep it turned off.
When you’re on the course, you’ll need to understand how the other golfers in your group want to play. Some let the best score tee off on the next hole, while others let whoever is ready tee off first. You can offend players by not following their rules, even if their rules are, from your perspective, wrong.
Time-Honored Conventions Make Golfing Unique
An obsession with quiet is another characteristic for which golfers are known. Like most traditions, this one is based on necessity. When your object is to hit a small object with a long pole, you need all of your concentration. Even when golfing with friends, respect the fundamental rule of keeping quiet during shots, and standing out of the direct line of vision.
Today’s golfing rules of etiquette can seem archaic — a throwback to days of old. They harken back to a slower paced time when consideration for others was perhaps easier. In the 21st century, golfing provides us a time away from the bustle of everyday living. Though golf is highly competitive, it is, nonetheless, a gentleman’s — and gentlewoman’s — game.
5 Minutes Early Is Late
Tips:
1. Source any natural dietary supplements which will help to keep you fit and healthy and keep your body in good shape to play golf.
2. Develop complete confidence in yourself and your game – need to be tough-minded and totally focused when you play golf.
3. Learn all known golf bets so that you can bet to your advantage and apply psychological pressure on your opponents at opportune moments.

Key To Good Golf
Saturday, December 12th, 2009
Playing good golf is predominantly about having a well planned mental approach to the game. If you lack a good way to control your mental state then you may find it much more difficult to be successful. Quite a few people get dispositional when the round is falling apart. Losing their cool is one of the most common mistakes that that all golfer can make. If you do not stay clam then your golf with be of a lower standard and so will you. There is a considerable amount of different books and audio tapes that can help you establish your golf mentality. It is usually the biggest factor to having a winning round.
The very first thing to thing about when when stepping out onto the golf course is to be as confident as possible. If you are don’t have a lot of faith in yourself as a player then you have a reduced chance of winning the match. Those who are unsure of their own ability usually remember the the things they do badly. Lack of confidence is a huge consideration and can increase your overall net score. For example players with a poor mental approach will think more about the times the play a bad shot than the times they get it right. When people who lack confidence begin their game they are often more uptight than the confident player. The confident player is the golfer who will imagine the good and not the bad when he is golfing. The player who doubts himself only seems the problems ahead. If while you stand on the tee you have doubts about whether you can make the shot then already the shot is more often than not going to be bad. To be a winning golfer you need to think about yourself as a winner even when you are not the winner. This can be pretty challenging but self belief has to come from you. Getting it right is about putting focus on on what you know you have done well and not putting focus on on what you don’t believe you are capable of.
Other important things to read about are patience, enjoying the challenge and overcoming your nerves. Just be sure to remember all the good things that you can do when you are walking up to play the first hole. If you really think about it golf is only a game and you should be able to have a good time whatever the result is. It can be unnerving at times but it can also be great when you do play well . The more you focus on the rounds you have played well the more controlled you will play overall. The more you like playing golf the the lower your score will be, remember that and you will be a much more consistent golfer.

Is Your Golf Up To Scratch? – Part 2
Monday, December 7th, 2009
Let’s see how we can apply this technique throughout your game. OK, you’re standing on the first tee, choosing your line and there’s a persistent thought of “don’t hook it into the trees”. What usually happens when you’re thinking this? Yes…golf balls always do what they are told; you are thinking about hooking into the trees and you do exactly that. Yes, I know, I can hear you saying “BUT I thought DON’T hook into the trees”. Your inner mind does not pay any attention to the “don’ts” of this world.
Whatever you are thinking about you are giving energy to, and energy is transmitted out into the atmosphere and attracts exactly what you are thinking about into your life. This is the law of attraction. Put another way, as you are thinking “Don’t hook it into the trees” you are at the same time inadvertently creating a picture in your mind of the ball going into the trees and also attaching a lot of energy to that picture because you feel a bit agitated about it; and so the ball goes into the trees. In fact, the ball went exactly where you inadvertently planned for it to go. This is how talented your mind is. If you ever doubted the fact that 90% of golf is played in the mind, this phenomenon is undeniable proof!
What can you do to stop this happening? You can recognize that you are thinking about hooking into the trees, create a picture of it intentionally, then move that picture to one side, shrink it, drain the color out, crumple it up and put it in the bin; and then, create a big, bright, clear picture in your mind’s eye of the golf ball landing where you want it to, sitting up nicely on the fairway.
You can also use this technique of “binning the negatives” when you have played a less than perfect shot or missed a putt. Create a picture of it and bin it. Then re-run in your mind’s eye the perfect shot, or the perfect putt. This is a great post-shot routine to adopt, and extremely effective, because your mind will only be recording good golf shots, thereby making the likelihood of great shots more compelling, whilst at the same time literally erasing poor shots from your mind. Thus your golfing confidence builds more quickly and easily than ever, and as the title of Dr Bob Rotella’s book states “Golf is a game of confidence”.
Getting back to your New Golf Season’s resolutions and making them probable instead of possible, you should now have a clear, in-focus, bright and compelling picture of you achieving your golfing goals. This is vitally important because whatever you imagine you can create. The next question to ask is what do you need to do to get to that point? What do you need to do physically and also mentally? From a mental perspective, the consistent application of the “binning the negatives” technique will transform your game, not to mention your life in general. You will be focusing on what you want to happen, rather than what you don’t. You will be aware of choosing where you want the golf ball to go and intentionally sending it there. You will now be in control of your thoughts and their resultant effect on the golf ball.
It’s also worth examining your thought processes whenever a shot doesn’t quite work out. Ask yourself were you thinking clearly and precisely? Did you picture what you wanted? Or was your focus drifting off at a tangent? Or did you simply stand up to the ball and hit it without planning? Or did you stand over the ball for ages with a myriad of thought competing for your attention? I’ll wager a bet that 90% of your “bad” shots are caused by “bad” thoughts. Check this out for yourself. If your own statistics reflect this percentage, then it follows that you have the ability, you have the talent, to hit this percentage of your “bad” shots perfectly simply by being aware of your thoughts and choosing to think clearly. That’s got to be an easier way to get your handicap down than changing your swing, don’t you agree?
Your subconscious mind will always work towards a goal that has been visualized in your mind’s eye. Your energy is being directed towards it, whether that goal is long term (as in your New Golf Season’s Resolution) or short term (your next shot). You have the ability to use your mind to achieve your golfing goals easily and effortlessly. You also have to plan in a physical sense towards your goal; you’re not going to improve without playing, so you have to put the time in as well. You’ll not put time in unless you find that its fun, so make sure that it is fun.

Getting A Golf Bag For Newbies
Saturday, November 7th, 2009
You might be a golf beginner looking for your first set of golf clubs and equipment or a pro shopping for upgrades, but all will agree that golf bags are essential in the game. Next to golf clubs, a golf bag is one of the most important golfing equipment there is.
It is considered a necessity. A good golf bag will lessen your worries on the golf course, (i.e. all your clubs are in their proper place) and you can focus on your teeing.
If you’re a beginner golfer, then golf bags are definitely a must. However, there are things that you should know before going to the nearest golf store and buying a golf bag on impulse. First, there are two types of golf bags? carry bags and cart bags.
Carry bags are golf bags that are used when you are planning to have a lot of walking on the golf course. Cart golf bags are those that you use when walking is not possible (as some golf courses prohibit walking), and riding a golf cart is your option. A beginner golfer will most definitely buy a walking bag at first, although if you are a serious beginner of the game, then you will eventually buy both types of golf bags.
If you are a newbie in the game, you might ask “What is a golf bag for? I only have four golf clubs.” A golf bag is a functional equipment rather than a fashion statement. It is not just for your golf clubs, but it can also hold your other golf equipment and accessories. Some advanced golf bags even have pocket coolers that can keep your drink ice-cold even for hours! You might want to consider that, especially when you will buy a carry golf bag.
When buying a golf bag, especially a carry golf bag, find a comfortable one. One should check the straps to see if it fits comfortably and whether it can be carried easily. Remember that your golf bag will be one of your trusted companions on the greens, and that you will spend hours with it. So choose wisely. Don’t buy low quality bags, because you will end up purchasing another bag in the next few months if your old golf bag tears up. You should also buy your golf bag depending on the number of golf clubs that you have. Most golf bags can carry up to 15 golf clubs. A tournament however limits the number of golf clubs in your golf bag.
Another important thing to consider when purchasing a golf bag is its weight. This is one of the most important things to know. Golf bags should be light enough to be carried or carted easily, but sturdy enough to hold your clubs and protect them. Some golf bags are even water resistant, and are rain proofed for the protection of your clubs. Most of these golf bags have 8 or 9 dividers or pockets. Again, the number of dividers that you will need depend on the amount of clubs and accessories you will carry. If you have many golf clubs then choose a golf bag with many dividers. However, these types of golf bags have the tendency to be heavier. Some bags can weigh less than 5 pounds! These types of bags are made up of space-age materials such as graphite, however, they more expensive.
Remember that when buying golf bags, the lighter it is, the better and more comfortable it will be.

Beginners Golf Tips
Saturday, July 11th, 2009
You can safely say that golf tips are the thoughts you harbor in your subconscious mind as you swing that golf club of yours. At the end of the day what matters is how well the golf tips work, irrespective of where it came from – another player or a golf veteran or that indisputably terrific player you came across at your most recent golf vacation in Las Vegas.
Our minds and bodies have their own unique system of working. When your mind is uncluttered then your body seems to work the best. This phrase means that you just let your body do its thing rather than trying to think through your actions. The trick is to train yourself to make this a custom and not an uncommon feat of achievement.
Here comes the first tip. Learn how to switch off your mind and give permission to your body to swing without interrupting it consciously. Your body remembers how to swing it correctly, if you have successfully done that.
A terrific way to materialize such a thing is to recall the time when you had achieved that fantastic swing. Visualize the scene in detail. Then remember how it felt. Mentally play it out in your inner eye and get back that wonderful feeling again. Now play it out. This is an easy, simple and effective exercise.
Understand that a good grip is the first step towards playing good golf. For your performance on the course your golf grip is crucially of consequence.
Most of the professional golfers have very similar golf grips. So keep your eyes open.
You have to experiment to find the hand position that suits your individual style the best. It is something you must train yourself for. Being consistent is the most crucial thing. Stick with the grip once you land upon it through the trial and error method.
Only when you hold the club exactly in a similar way every single time can you really tell whether your golf grip gives you the achieved outcome. Practice and learn to grip the golf club the same way whenever you play.
So your second golf tip is to find out the golf grip that works best for you and continue with it.
When you choose a club that always make sure to ask yourself, “How far must I back off of this swing?” the 75% rule works best. Make a ¾ backswing and follow through, concentrating on controlling the direction and distance of the shot.
A club that is heavy will give you the force you need to improve your control and aiming the target. If you practice with heavier clubs then you will have the capacity to swing with more control since you will not be investing all your strength into it.
You will see that you are making better contacts more and more with the ¾ swing and will now begin to hit the ball farther with that wonderful control in your swing than the full whack.
The third golf trip is to play with a heavier club and lower your swing to 75%. This way you will get power and control that is much better.

Golf Swing Instruction – Ask a Pro
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009
Sometimes, no matter how much you practice, perfecting your swing or even correcting small problems in your swing seems impossible. In this case, you might require golf swing instruction from a pro…even if you have been playing for some time. Golf swing instruction will probably help you even more than you realize.
Golf pros are different from ordinary golfers. They have perfected their own game, and then they learned to study other people’s games to help them perfect their games. A golf pro knows that all golfers are different, and each one will have different needs to correct small problems. Pros are trained to help you correct those problems – in ways designed just for you.
Finding golf pros is easy – finding golf pros that are good is a little harder. Finding a golf pro that suits your particular needs can seem absolutely overwhelming… but it doesn’t have to be. There are certain steps to take to find a good golf pro. Don’t just settle for the guy that works in your local pro shop.
First, ask your friends for recommendations. Find out where the pros are located, and if possible, watch them with their other students from a distance. How do they interact? Are they patient? Do they seem to know what they are doing, and what they are talking about? Visit your local pro shop, and ask about the pros that are available in the area. Don’t worry about insulting the pro running the shop – he probably no longer offers instruction anyway.
Most clubs have golf pros on staff. Follow the same protocol, and watch them from a distance, after the practice session that you watch, try to catch up with the golf student, and ask questions about the golf pros instructional skills, and ask specifically if they would recommend him. Ask them if there has been any improvement in their game since they started the lessons.
Ask for references – and check them. If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch the pro in action on the course, ask to join a training session for observation purposes. Don’t be alarmed if the pro says no to this – it may simply be to protect the privacy of his or her clients. You might even offer to pay half of the hourly rate for the opportunity to watch them in action with another student.
Once you’ve started instruction with a golf pro, give it a few sessions to determine whether or not this is the right golf pro for you. Sometimes, people simply don’t get along well. It may be that this particular golf pro cannot convey the concept to you in a way that you understand. If it isn’t working out, don’t be afraid to stop working with that particular pro, and start your search for another one. The current pro may be able to make a recommendation if you just explain the situation to them in a nice way.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you can perfect your golf swing in just one or two sessions with a golf pro – or even three or four, and maybe not even in ten sessions! Everyone learns at their own pace, and golf techniques take time to learn, and even more time to perfect. Also, really listen to what your golf pro is telling you. If you aren’t willing to listen, you are wasting your time, your money, and the pros time as well. Stay completely focused during your training sessions, and make sure that you put in the additional practice time that is recommended by your pro.
If you feel that you have been given quality golf swing instruction by your pro, don’t be afraid to tip them, or offer them a bonus. This is a common practice, and many pros depend on tips a great deal. Treat your pro with respect – they are not underlings. Failure to give proper respect to your pro may result in him or her walking off the job! Golf pros have a true love for the game – and if you demonstrate that same feeling for the game, you may find that you receive superior instruction!

The Importance of a Good Golf Bag!
Monday, July 6th, 2009
Few things are more important to a golfer than a good golf bag. First off, golf bags come in many styles and a wide variety of colors. You can choose a bag for style, features or pick a color to match your mood.
Some have legs that fold out when they are placed on the ground and stand upright so the golfer doesn’t have to bend down and pick it up. That’s a nice feature in golf bags, especially if the golfer tends to walk the course, as many do. There is plenty of bending to be done when a golfer is trying to remove an obstacle from around his or her ball, or to get the ball out of the cup, so any way to avoid bending over is more than appreciated.
All golf bags have compartments where the golf clubs are to be placed. Each golfer has his or her own way of doing this and putting clubs where he or she wants them. Some golfers, though, are lazy and just stick their clubs in the compartments, grabbing whichever one they want when a particular club is needed. But, some golf bags have tubes to protect the club grips. These are nice to have. With the tubes, a golfer can get his or her clubs out easier. The clubs are never tangled up, and the grips last a lot longer.
Another important factor in choosing a golf bag is the number of pockets it has. Frankly, there’s no such thing as too many pockets in a golf bag. First, one of the pockets will be used to hold the golf bag’s hood. The hood is used to keep the clubs and bag from getting drenched when it rains. Another pocket will be used to keep extra towels (believe it or not, extra towels are important in the summer to keep the sweat off the brow and out of the eyes, along with keeping the hands relatively dry. Then, there is the pocket used for keeping the extra golf tees and possibly the divot tool. Finally, a pocket is needed for the golf balls themselves, and it doesn’t hurt to have a pocket to carry another dozen balls in, just in case.
Some courses are so difficult it is easy to lose a lot of balls during 18-holes of play. This makes having an extra box of balls around a good thing, but there has to be somewhere in the golf bag to keep them, which means another pocket.
Imagine trying to play golf without a bag. The golfer would be constantly stooping over picking up clubs, tees, balls, towels and the divot tool. Then he or she would have to walk to the ball, drop all of the clubs and stuff, select a club, hit the ball, and start the process all over again. It would be a major pain in the neck, and would make it nearly impossible to finish playing a round of golf. So, golf bags are an essential part of the game of golf.

Golf Discount Store Shopping Makes Good Cents
Sunday, July 5th, 2009
Let’s face it. Playing golf is not one of the most economical sports in the world. Unlike basketball where a single ball is needed for two teams to play and maybe, just maybe, some specialized shoes, a golfer requires a lot more gear to get going and that gear, or at least some of it, will have to be replaced from time to time. With this in mind, smart golfers often look for good golf discount store locations to help them keep their passion in financial check.
Considering the expense of golf doesn’t stop when all the gear is purchased, it is particularly smart to save money where possible. After all, a golfer will likely also have to pay for greens fees, cart rentals, perhaps even a caddy and more. So, saving a little here and there without sacrificing quality is a good idea.
Stores that specialize in golf discount equipment aren’t necessarily selling used items or seconds either. There are plenty of discount locations that offer everything a golfer needs to be fully outfitted with the best or darn close to it, but they simply don’t charge as much.
The cost savings without quality sacrifice can be accomplished in a number of different ways. Some discount stores only offer their items for sale on the Internet. This provides savings in several different ways. By not having an actual “storefront,” the Internet discount store saves on overhead, which can be passed along to a customer. Also, by going the Internet route, the store opens its base for customers. Instead of only pulling shoppers from a set geographic location, these stores can have customers from all over the world – literally. The increase in potential sales can equate to an ability to purchase in bulk from manufacturers or suppliers, which means discounts for the customers. So, no matter whether it’s brand name items or lesser names, there are still a number of ways savings can be passed along. Plus, the need for a lot of employees is also largely removed.
The large discount golf outlets that have storefronts in a number of locations can pass along savings from bulk purchases. The buying power of the bigger discount chains can be incredible and is noted in other areas as well.
In the case of smaller storefront discount locations, there’s always the possibility of smart stocking and even lowered overhead due to more of an emphasis on inventory than store appearance.
There are a number of ways good golf discount shops can help their customers realize great savings without sacrificing quality. Shopping around these discount stores can help a golfer get fully equipped without breaking the bank, so it really pays to check them out.
Just make sure you buy what you truly need and pay attention to quality cues and stick with the names you’re comfortable with when possible. Many discount outlets are able to provide name brands or at least name brand quality. If you have to have the Ping clubs, save money on other items to make up for the expense. After all, some things simply can’t be sacrificed.
